Demand Response Price Response
CPower Price Response programs provide clients with significant opportunities to build their revenue. In return for shedding some or all of their company 's electric load when wholesale prices are high, CPower will make client payments based on the wholesale electricity price. Participating clients will also supplement this revenue with the savings garnered from the reduced consumption of electricity. Essentially, the more kilowatt hours a client can shed, the more money they will make. CPower notifies clients either a day before or the morning of days when prices are projected to exceed the client's pre-determined threshold. Participation is typically voluntary, so a client may choose whether to shed load on a given day.To facilitate a client's participation, CPower conducts a thorough audit of company operations and current energy consumption. Based on its findings, CPower develops a customized curtailment plan, which may include a combination of load shifting, distributed generation, automated controls and load shedding.
The payments companies can earn is dependent on several factors including the amount of load the client is willing to shed, the price at which the client is willing to shed load and the frequency with which those prices are reached in the wholesale market. Clients who agree to shed load at lower prices will be called upon more frequently and will receive higher payments.
Price response programs among the most common and easily implemented types of demand response. Clients in all sectors, including industrial, commercial, retail, institutional and large residential can benefit from these programs. In addition, price response programs can often be combined with capacity programs for additional revenue.
