ConsumerPowerline generates $6 million for clients in New York Summer 2005 electricity demand response marketNEW YORK, June 22, 2005 - ConsumerPowerline, a strategic energy asset management company, has secured an estimated $6 million of new revenue for its New York City customers by selling their excess energy capacity in the 2005 summer demand response markets.
ConsumerPowerline (www.consumerpowerline.com) customers that participated in the sale include Fortune 100 companies and some of the nation's largest commercial, residential, retail and institutional facilities. Among those industries in which ConsumerPowerline partners with are the hotels, hospitals, large co-op residential apartment complexes, financial institutions, unions, REIT's and many others. In total, these organizations represent over 340 MWs of electricity purchasing power in the New York City markets or roughly 3 percent of the city's entire load. ConsumerPowerline, which leads the city demand response market with a 48 percent market share, combines its leadership in this market with financial, contractual and structural energy market expertise.

Conducted by the NYISO (New York Independent System Operator) the Reliability Demand Response programs, the Emergency Demand Response Program (EDRP) and ICAP Special Case Resources (ICAP-SCR) program, are intended to provide System Operators with additional resources that can be deployed in the event of energy shortages to maintain the reliability of the system. The NYISO's Day-Ahead Demand Response Program (DADRP) allows energy users to bid their load reductions, or "negawatts," into the day-ahead energy market just as generators do.
